Privacy policy

Labo Legal attaches great importance to the protection of your personal information. This policy describes our practices in accordance with Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25, and with other applicable legislation.

Person in charge of the protection of personal information

The person in charge of the protection of personal information is M^e Abdelkrim Kebache, a lawyer and member of the Barreau du Québec, the firm’s principal lawyer. Information we collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide our services: your identification and contact information, the information required to carry out your mandate, and billing information.

Depending on the service ordered, the information required for the mandate may include the name, date of birth, residential address and contact details of the directors, shareholders, partners or owner of the enterprise, the distribution of shares or partnership interests, and information about the persons who exercise control over the enterprise. This information is required by the Québec enterprise registrar or by Corporations Canada and some of it is published in the enterprise register.

For tax registrations, Revenu Québec and the Canada Revenue Agency require the social insurance number of the directors or of the owner. This information is not requested through the site's form: it is collected when the file is opened, together with supporting documents, and is used solely for the purposes of the registration. Payments are processed by a secure third-party payment provider; we do not retain your credit card numbers.

Purposes

Your information is used to carry out the mandates you entrust to us, including filings with the competent authorities (the Québec enterprise registrar, Corporations Canada, Revenu Québec, the Canada Revenue Agency or others), to communicate with you, to prepare billing and to meet our legal, professional and ethical obligations.

Consent

By sending us your information, you consent to its use for the purposes described in this policy. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to applicable legal or contractual restrictions and to our professional retention obligations.

Disclosure to third parties

We never sell your personal information. It is disclosed to third parties only where necessary: to government authorities in the course of carrying out your mandate, to our technical and payment service providers, who are bound to maintain the confidentiality of the information entrusted to them, or where required by law.

AI assistant

Exchanges with the AI assistant may be processed by third-party technology providers. We recommend that you not transmit sensitive personal information through the AI assistant. Exchanges with the assistant are not communications protected by the professional secrecy of the lawyer.

Hosting and transfer outside Québec

Your information may be hosted or processed outside Québec. In such a case, we take reasonable measures to ensure that it benefits from adequate protection.

Retention and security

Your information is kept for as long as necessary for the purposes described and for the retention periods imposed by applicable professional obligations. We apply reasonable security measures to protect it, including encrypted transmission of exchanges with the site and restricted access to files. No system is infallible, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Within the limits provided by law, you have a right of access to your personal information, a right of rectification and the right to withdraw your consent.

You may also ask us to communicate to you, or to a third party you designate, the computerized personal information you provided to us, in a structured and commonly used technological format. This right to portability does not cover information we created or inferred from your file.

You may finally ask us to cease disseminating personal information about you, or to de-index it, where the dissemination contravenes the law or a court decision, or where it causes you serious injury to your reputation or your privacy.

Any request must be made in writing to the person in charge of the protection of personal information, who will respond within the time limits provided by law. If the response does not satisfy you, you may file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

Confidentiality incident

In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we will notify the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec and the persons concerned, in accordance with the law, and will record the incident in our register.

Cookies

The site uses technical mechanisms necessary for it to function, such as keeping the contents of your cart in your browser, together with two audience measurement cookies set by Google Analytics. The latter are not set by default: a banner collects your consent on your first visit, and your choice can be changed at any time from the footer. We do not use advertising cookies. Audience measurement

We measure traffic to the site using two tools. The analytics tool of our host, Vercel, sets no cookie and uses no persistent identifier: that measurement therefore does not require your consent. Google Analytics 4, for its part, sets two cookies lasting two years and transmits that data to Google; it is activated only after your consent, collected by a banner on your first visit and revocable at any time.

In both cases the statistics produced are aggregate: pages viewed, where the visitor came from, device type, country, time spent. This data is tied neither to your identity nor to a client file, and is used neither for advertising, nor for retargeting, nor for automated decision-making. As with hosting, these processing operations take place outside Québec; see the section on that subject above. Any complaint concerning the processing of your personal information may be addressed to the person identified above. You may also contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec. This policy may be amended at any time; the version in force is the one published on this page.
